Beaumont

My wife and I moved to an acreage just outside of Beaumont nearly a decade ago. I now call Beaumont home! Chances are you have seen me at Boston Pizza eating wings, enjoying a craft beer at Sea Change, or buying roast beef at the deli in Sobeys! For years, I worked out at the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre gym before it was shut down for a massive renovation!  

Beaumont. B-Town. I like this town! WAIT! Beaumont is now a CITY!!! It is one of the fastest growing metropolitan centres in North America! Its population has nearly doubled over the past 10 years, and doubled the previous 10 before that! Beaumont is twice the size as when we first moved out here and it shows. With over 20’000 residents, it is no longer just a town with one main drag. The city is growing rapidly to the south and west with the newly renovated Sport & Rec Centre, the brand new École Champs Vallee elementary-junior high school, and a load of new commercial real estate that is filling up with the new business! Chartier, Original Joes, and a number of new dining options are quickly popping up. 

The iconic St.Vital Roman Catholic Church overlooks the City and is a symbol of Beaumont. It has several places of worship for various denominations. Beaumont also has a very strong francophone community! This is clearly evident by the bilingual traffic signs, the majority of schools being French immersion and the architectural influences in new commercial real estate! Here you get your books from a bibliothèque, but the sign also says Library.

Beaumont still has a small-town feel, which is a good thing! Farmers’ Markets, local ice cream stands, a skate park, a local newspaper, and low crime rates! It is policed by the RCMP, does not have its own hospital, and relies on emergency services from neighbouring cities Leduc and Edmonton. Beaumont has many amenities with more popping up every day. It is conveniently situated to quickly reach Edmonton International Airport for travel and is just a short drive from the additional amenities of larger cities.

Sobeys and No Frills are the main grocers in Beaumont. There are a variety of fast-food restaurants, including A&W, McDonald's, Dairy Queen, Mary Browns, Edo, Subway, and Wok Box. Coffee shops include local Jef’s Café, as well as Starbucks and Tim Hortons. Local Basile’s 2-for-1 pizza is still my favourite take-out, but I am pretty happy with Panago, and I am a frequent customer of Boston Pizza too! My buddy Kevin’s family at Golden Palace makes the best Chinese food I ever had! Local bars Five-O and Live City are good for a pint, pool and VLTS (if you are into that!). Sea Change has been a welcome addition to Beaumont and makes the best craft beer around. Chartier restaurant is acclaimed and draws customers from the big city to sample their savoury culinary delights! Just don’t get hooked on their donuts!

Beaumont has many elementary-junior high schools including Beau Meadow (K-6), École Bellevue (K-6), École Coloniale Estates (K-6), École Dansereau Meadows (K-8), académie Saint-Andre (K-9 Catholic), École Champs Vallee (K-9) and École JE Lapointe (junior high). Currently École Secondaire Beaumont Composite is our only high school. Rumour has it another one is in the works. If you are looking to raise your children to be bilingual, this is the city to do it!

Beaumont has excellent sports and recreation for all ages. Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre and Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre are hubs for aquatic programs, fitness classes, hockey, soccer, team sports and strength training. There are several parks and sports fields throughout the city. A free skate park and tennis courts are also popular! Go for a jog or walk the dog on throughout Beaumont’s paved trails connecting the parks. Stop at the Four Seasons Park and cool down in the spray park! Enjoy hot cocoa in the winter, watching the kids sled down the big hill by St. Vital Church, stopped at the bottom by big hay bales!

Here the motto is Life is Better in Beaumont. And it is. This small community offers a safe place to raise your family while providing them with necessary leisure opportunities and outdoor space. Every year the Beaumont becomes more robust but continues to grow with thought and architectural features in the French style. It is truly a beautiful place to live! If you are looking to buy or sell a home in B-town, call Beaumont Bruce today!
